Regenerating the land that sustains us
At Chatsworth, we see natural capital as everything within the living landscape that surrounds and supports us—soil, water, pasture, biodiversity. As farmers, we are its caretakers, working consciously to restore and regenerate this precious resource for future generations.
Through programs like the Land to Market Ecological Outcome Verification and a registered soil carbon project with the Australian Government’s Climate Solutions Fund, we’re actively measuring our impact and investing in long-term ecological health.
Our approach is grounded in balance:
Livestock are part of the system. Our composite sheep and cattle help us implement regenerative grazing principles which gives paddocks time to recover and build soil health.
Waterways such as the Hopkins River and the artesian water below ‘Ellerslie’ are respected and protected, with management practices shaped by their presence and importance.
Soils are seen as living ecosystems. We’re increasing soil carbon to improve fertility, build resilience, boost water retention, and support the fight against climate change.
Pastures are designed for diversity. Multi-species blends like lucerne, chicory, phalaris, clover, cocksfoot, fescue and plantain nourish the land while supporting our livestock.
